The 2018 Australian macadamia crop is expected to reach 44,500 tonnes in-shell at 3.5% moisture, from 44,000 tonnes in 2017. On the other hand the South African crop is expected to be low. Harvest conditions have been favourable.
90% of the total Australian crop has been delivered by the end of June. The current crop estimate will be updated this month and the total crop will be announced in December. The Quality of the kernel is exceptional and global demand remains strong for both Australian kernel and in-shell. As the crop continues to improve and new plantings are now reaching maturity we are seeing bigger kernels in the market. There are offers out there for Style 0’s and 1’s. Smaller pieces will be a challenge as we move through the season as there are hardly any offers and offers that are seen are sold within a heartbeat.
