The prices for poppy seed have moved down considerably. Supply in general is abundant the pressure on prices was and still is driven by the Czech Rep. The market is expected to continue to float at around current levels both short and medium term. Long term much will depend on this year European and Australian crops. The return on poppy seed for farmers is still somewhat better than many other agricultural products, like grain. Buyers are advised to only book immediate requirements.
